Day 1 – Sintra, Cabo da Roca and Cascais

Begin your journey from Lisbon to the fairy-tale town of Sintra, where you can choose to visit two of its most iconic landmarks. At Pena Palace, admire the colorful Romantic architecture envisioned by King Fernando II, known as the “Artist King” for his passion for the arts and creative vision that transformed this former monastery into a royal masterpiece. At Quinta da Regaleira, uncover the mysteries of its lush gardens, underground tunnels, and symbolic architecture deeply connected to the ideals of the Freemasons, Knights Templar, and alchemy. Stroll through the charming historic center of Sintra before heading to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, a place once believed for centuries to be the end of the world when the Americas and Portugal’s Atlantic islands were still unknown. End the day in Cascais, a picturesque former fishing village that has become an elegant seaside retreat for Portugal’s elite, often called the Portuguese Riviera, before returning to Lisbon.

Day 2 – Óbidos, Nazaré, Batalha & Fátima

Depart from Lisbon to Óbidos, a beautifully preserved medieval village where centuries-old walls still embrace cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses adorned with vibrant flowers. Walk through the castle gates and immerse yourself in its timeless atmosphere, discovering artisan shops and tasting the local cherry liqueur, ginjinha, traditionally served in a chocolate cup. Continue to Nazaré, a fishing town world-famous for its giant waves, where the traditions of the sea remain alive and the coastal views from Sítio da Nazaré are simply breathtaking. Your journey continues to Batalha to visit the magnificent Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built to commemorate Portugal’s victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385, an event that secured the country’s independence from Castile. End the day in Fátima, one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world, where in 1917 three shepherd children reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Visit the Sanctuary, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Chapel of the Apparitions before returning to Lisbon.

Day 3 – Évora & Monsaraz with Wine Tasting

Depart Lisbon for the heart of the Alentejo region to discover Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city that blends Roman, medieval, and Renaissance heritage. Begin with a visit to a traditional cork factory to learn how this natural material, harvested from the cork oak trees of the region, is transformed into high-quality products exported worldwide. Continue into Évora’s historic center, exploring the lively Praça do Giraldo, the city’s main square surrounded by arcaded buildings and filled with centuries of history. Admire the remarkably well-preserved Roman Temple, one of the best examples of Roman architecture in Portugal, and visit the haunting yet fascinating Chapel of Bones, where thousands of human bones and skulls line the walls as a reminder of the transience of life. In the afternoon, travel to Monsaraz, a medieval hilltop village with narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and sweeping views over the Alqueva Lake. End your journey with an exclusive wine tasting at a local estate before returning to Lisbon.
